WHAT’S ALL THIS COLOR TALK

If your looking at our salon menu you maybe wondering what is a single color, double color, and etc. You may be thinking I just want my hair like the picture that’s saved on my phone. I get it but let me fill you in a bit so when you come to your consultation your all caught up.

Single Color

A single hair color refers to when all of the hair on a person's head is the same color, without any highlights or lowlights. When this color process is done there is no lifting done with bleach. For example, someone with dark brown hair decides to change their hair to an auburn brown.

Double Process Hair Color

A double process color refers to when two step applications are applied in order to achieve desired look. This process is done mostly when clients are looking to achieve vibrant colors. Any color shades that are above a level 6 on natural brown or black hair will be considered double process color. Vibrant shades of hair color refer to any shade that is bold, bold, and eye-catching. These can include bright and bold colors such as bright pink, electric blue, fiery red, and purple, or even neon yellow or orange. These colors are often used to make a statement or stand out from the crowd. They require bleaching or lightening the hair to achieve the desired color intensity. This process may take longer than the average single color process depending on the natural state of a client’s hair.

Highlights/ (Foils)

Foils Added to Locs To Add

Highlights to Natural Haircolor

Highlights on hair refer to the process of coloring sections of the hair to create a lighter and brighter appearance. The color is typically applied in small, thin strands or sections of hair to create contrast against the natural color of the rest of the hair. Highlights can be done using various coloring techniques, such as foil highlights, balayage, or ombre, and can range in color from blonde to red to even blue or purple. Highlights are often used to add dimension and depth to hair, create a sun-kissed look, or to simply liven up the hair with a pop of color.

Balayage Highlighting

Balayage highlighting is a hair coloring technique in which the hair colorist hand-paints the hair to create a natural-looking, graduated effect. The color is applied with a sweeping motion, typically starting at the roots and ending at the tips. This creates a softer, more natural-looking highlight than traditional foil highlights. The technique can be used to create a variety of effects, from subtle, sun-kissed highlights to bold, statement-making color schemes. Balayage highlighting is a popular choice for those who want to add dimension and depth to their hair, without the harsh lines that can be created with more traditional highlighting methods.

Color Correction
Color correction in hair color refers to the process of reversing or correcting a previous hair color to achieve a desired result. This could include fixing botched or uneven hair dye jobs, correcting brassy tones, or lightening or darkening previously treated hair. The specific meaning of color correction can vary depending on the individual client's needs and the current state of their hair.

HOW MUCH THIS WILL COST YOU

Let’s first understand that color is a chemical service. The cost for a chemical service is going to cost more than a normal salon service. The cost for color can vary based upon a service provider’s experience, location, and time put in for the chemical service. The cost of color can range from $45-$400. No matter if you are coloring your natural hair, your locs, or your hair extensions the color cost the more color that has to be applied to coat the strands as you desire.

Here are a few things that are factored into cost when pricing for color services:

-time (application, processing)

-supplies (color bowls, tools, foils etc)

-color products (color tubes, developers, lightening powders, etc)

-experience (education)

The more educated you become about the service you are getting the more you can understand the value of your service. Please sure to ask questions during your consultation. This is why the consultation is provided for you, to get clarity on your service and hair.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE

Color takes time and it should never be rushed. This is not a quick service. Never book for a color service if you don’t have time to sit and process. The color will need to stay on your hair for a specific amount of time. Each color technique, color products, and application process have its own timing. Also every hair type processes differently. It definitely depends on the integrity and porosity of one’s hair that allows the color to process effectively. This depends on the type of color and the desired result. Most single color hair dyes require about 30 minutes to process, but some may need more or less time. Corrective colors can take 2.5- 6 hours of service. This is all depending on the starting point, the application of how long the stylist applies, the processing time, and shampooing/ conditioning. When coloring extensions, we ask that this be done before service time. This will make the service time go smoothly. Coloring extensions can be a lot more lengthier than natural hair services so this is why we choose to value your time by doing this before your appointment.
